Gorgeous unique jewelry is always hard to find- sometimes it just pops up out of the blue and finds you- as did this gorgeous piece from Mathew DiSpagna, DiSpagna Designs LTD.
According to DiSpagna, cold fusion isn't new but is an ancient technique.
Cold fusion goes back as far as the Phoenicians. Many call is wire wrapping today, but most wire wrapped jewelry is very simple and basic and I feel that label devalues what I do. Most people who get into this art don't know much of the history on it, some think it is a contemporary style of craft when in actuality it is an ancient art form that has been modernized. I love that I am able to assist in the evolution of the style. Now, cold fusion is very simple and basic as a name. Most fine jewelry has the element of heat involved, welding, soldering, designers heat up the metal to bend, shape and mold the metals, where as with cold fusion there is no heat aspect involved. The wire used is never heated, it is wrapped and bent around other pieces of wire, which brings the term cold fusion. My work also represents the fusion of the times we are in.

Azha is Pink/Blue Watermelon Tourmaline and Indicolite, both from Brazil, set in Fine and Sterling Silver. This piece measures 1.75" x 1" and is not for sale.
We live in a material world, and though the population is slowly learning of the healing properties of stones, it has not yet fully grasped... my jewelry and its' metaphorical quality. The metals used represent all things man made while the stones represent all things natural. I know it is a simple explanation, but when you really look, it is quite fascinating, to be able to wear jewelry that represents the time we live in, jewelry that represents the past and the future all in one.

Oh, as you can see, I can comment again. I guess it was just that one day. I never heard back after contacting tech anyway.
