What was that thunder? Was it lightning? Was it a roaring of a train? How about a jet? Nope.. Actually it was a hurricane- not a real hurricane- maybe more accurately a HIM and HER- icane - called the Beckhams.
David and Victoria (Posh Spice) Beckham "officially" arrived in LA yesterday and I swear you would have thought that it was the second coming! The crowds roared and stamped their feet- well at least some did. Some didn't know who he was and they were along for the press ride. However as Beckham joins the LA Galaxy team, the jersey to have already is # 23- Beckham's number. The Galaxy game featuring Beckham's debut is already sold out- in ONE DAY!!

Confetti was flying and I guess soccer aka football will soon be a hot sport here in the US. Discussion with those in the know was when was the last time LA saw such a celebration as this- perhaps when the Lakers won the "re-peat" twice in a row of the NBA championships- and they had to WIN to get this sort of reception- not merely show up for a crowd. (Kobe Bryant, eat your heart out).

Queen Elizabeth didn't get the same thunderous applause or reception that David & Victoria Beckham have gotten in LA. Not only has Ms. Posh shown up wearing short shorts and platform sneakers along with a Dodger Blue jacket to toss the first pitch of a game, but she's also going to debut her own REALITY SHOW that started filming in March and film crews have been spotted trotting around LA with her.
This one hour reality special debuts tonight on NBC called Victorial Beckham: Coming to America.

Granted Posh Spice (and the rest of the Spice Girls ) have evolved since their "spicier" days. Each has changed a great deal and yet no one better reflects the Spice Girls ideology than Beckham who eschews a stylist according to the LA Times Fashion Reporter Booth Moore. And looking at Beckham's rotating outfits, it doesn't take a stylist or a fashionista to discern that Posh Spice definitely has a style of her own. Whether she falls into the mold or breaks out of the LA tradition and creates a new fashion trend and sensibility remains to be seen.
So stay tuned boys and girls- life's just beginning to get interesting for this couple residing in a 22 million dollar home who claim to do just the "regular sort of things as everyone else".
