Mike Errico might not be a name in the music biz that you recognize yet- though if you are on the East Coast, you would probably recognize it. If you read Blender Magazine, you will definitely have seen it there but maybe not done the math that the BLENDER Mike Errico is the same MUSIC Mike Errico. His latest release iw a well- thought out CD of tunes entitled ALL IN . This follow-up to the 2004 effort , Skimming , shows a real evolution and a focus on meshing of lyricism and musicianship.

With a more definitive East Coast vibe, it still works well here on the West Coast if you give it half a chance. If you don't know what you are going to listen to, you can really be surprised what comes in square thin packages. Personally I was blown away when the first song dropped and I hit rewind/repeat and cranked up the speakers

His indie rock presentation isn't dramatic or angst-ridden as it is more like a snapshot of the conversations that you have going on inside the brain.
Capturing the essence of the chatter that goes on and the feelings engendered by friends and lovers departing your life, Mike Errico's music is more a social and romantic commentary set to music that works both in the revved up rock and also in the more balladic tunes. Girlfriend Weather is one of the more interesting tunes as is You Could Be Anywhere, How It Ends is a distinctly stay or go- just no more maybes aesthete that we all wish or want to say to those who won't commit. A nod to Pink Floyd with Sweet Anesthesia. Sit back and listen with eyes closed (not while driving of course) and hear the echoes of Pink Floyd in the stylized vocals and the musical rhythms.

The throbbing base lines, the tight percussion and the great vocals make for a rich CD that's got to be on your iPod and in your car. Makes for great driving music.
