Rather than take on Apple head to head, SanDisk the flash drive manufacturer has done something really smart and it was featured in the LA Times on Sat. They have entered the music player market picking off the people that don't fit into Apple's demographic or $$$ range. Not everyone wants to drop serious dinero on something that's going to be obsolete in about a year.

Instead SanDisk started presenting well presented musical players that are really designed and implemented that had price points HALF the prices of the iPod for a 16 G player/viewer. Now that makes sense! Their market share is up 11% while Apple's is down 9% - interesting considering all the competition in the marketplace.
