Skiing in South America isn't something that you might set out to find, but the Brazilians know how to do things right, and they definitely make this work, too. Nubbly plastic ski slopes make for easy gliding in Sao Roque, which is in Sao Paulo state and a quick drive away from the city. Don't expect death-defying courses (more like the bunny trail), but the sensation of skiing on plastic is just too weird to pass up. Sao Roque also features a pretty wicked sans-snow tube trail for sledding, which is highly recommended for the sheer novelty factor.
